Hi everyone! My name is Rhyann, and I am currently in my third year of Animal Biology at the University of Guelph. I am excited to be joining CPVMA this year as the Sr. Vice President of Merchandise. I am very passionate about veterinary medicine, and aspire to pursue a specialized career in veterinary oncology and research. I also work with humane society animals as a veterinary assistant, which has been so rewarding. I'm looking forward to connecting with the pre-veterinary community across Canada and being part of an amazing team!
Jr VP MerchandiseNayana Anantharajah
Hey! My name is Nayana, and I am thrilled to be the Jr. Vice President of Merchandise on CPVMA this year! I am a Bio-Medical Science student at the University of Guelph and an aspiring veterinarian with a deep appreciation for animals and nature. I have been fortunate to have some incredibly meaningful experiences, from volunteering with a non-profit that provides veterinary services for underserved communities in Costa Rica to caring for non-releasable native raptors at Wild Ontario, an environmental education program. It has been a privilege to learn so much from the animals I have worked with along the way (including Atwood, the Northern Saw-whet Owl pictured with me, who is one of Wild Ontario’s educational ambassadors)! I hope to build a career that reflects the many reasons I fell in love with veterinary medicine. I am especially interested in wildlife, companion animal, and exotic animal medicine, and in the future, I hope to contribute to wildlife conservation efforts while also travelling to make veterinary care more accessible around the world. I want my work to be rooted in empathy and advocacy, while making a meaningful difference in the lives of both animals and people. Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy writing poems, listening to music while riding my bike, and drawing. I’m looking forward to connecting with others that share my passion and helping pre-vet students navigate their journeys!
